Welcome to Aubreysdon! It's a bustling port city in the country of Encre. The world to you may look like the Golden Age of Piracy, but there are differences. A few plagues and other events (don't worry, they're in the past) have left guilds much stronger, and the associations still have firm monopolies on the larger towns. Women still enjoy nearly equal footing with men in guilds, but now men are starting to push for women to stay home to learn home crafts and to "keep their reputations intact" from their wanderings as journeymen—something most of the women aren't willing to do. Life is fairly quiet in this seaport. The guilds don't all get along, and there are a few disagreements, and the women certainly raise a fuss every now and then in a movement similar to women's lib. However, the townspeople enjoy peace—no pirates for 147 days and counting! The peace is starting to feel fragile, though, as neighboring Iode is threatening war. How long will their lives stay unaffected? (Quick note: women are allowed to work but they won't work "men's jobs" that require physical labor and such. In this world, women can be, say, an alchemist (as well as a dressmaker, embroiderist, etc) but not a carpenter.)
There are plenty of positions within the guilds. Nearly every occupation can have a guild associated with it, but guild members are not the only ones available. Townspeople are needed, and nobles are certainly welcomed. Disillusioned journeymen can try to start their own guilds or journeymen associations. Want a pirate attack? Great! If you can think it up, we probably need your character!
Rules * No Mary Sues. * No explicit sex scenes. Write them in your journal or something if you want, and you're allowed to elude to it. R-rated scenes will be tolerated depending on how much detail is given, but nothing harsher than that. Mostly I want a set-up and then "the doors close" kind of thing. Anyway, no explicitness is allowed on ZB, I don't think, so if you want to get too into it, you have to go to a journal or something. * Darkness, crack, and romance are allowed, but we're trying not to let any one of them overrun the RP too much (hence no explicit sex scenes). Mostly, we want it to be gen (with a balance of het and slash). * AIM chats may be logged and used as scenes, provided they are posted on the board. These would really be for when a scene has mostly quick dialogue between characters that may be tiresome in posts and provide for short, "one-liners."
